Balazs Pigsty, Instructor

BALAZS POGSAY
Teacher

About
Balázs is very detail oriented, "Precision above all" is his motto - while balancing his classes with a good flow. Focusing a lot on correct positioning, breathing and the right biomechanical alignment for the body in order to achieve maximum efficiency for each exercise. He likes to encourage the clients to bring their attention inwards, to the feeling of the movement rather than how it looks like from the outside. Through focusing internally people will gain a much deeper and holistic understanding of their own bodies and movement patterns.

Education
Balazs was born in 1989, in Budapest, Hungary. In a very early state he discovered his passion for movement when he began to train Martial Arts at the age of 10. His interest for dance started when he turned 19 and began following this path which led him to SEAD - Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. After graduating he worked and performed internationally all over Europe, including Belgium Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Hungary. He discovered Pilates thanks to his - now wife whose classes really opened his eyes for the magic of Pilates. Since then, he completed his Comprehensive Pilates Training at Body Harmonics® and feels extremely lucky to have gone through their in-depth anatomy focused educational program.

LUCAS BROWN
Teacher

About
Lucas comes from the Canadian Bible belt but escaped to the Pacific Northwest as soon as possible. He was a Flight Attendant for most of his 20s, during which time he completed a BSc in neuroscience then immediately forgot everything. He had no intentions of becoming a Pilates teacher. Fortunately, some nasty injuries and a twisted body meant it was only a matter of time before Pilates found him.

Education
Lucas completed his therapeutic mat and apparatus training in early 2021 through Pilates Process in Vancouver, with additional training through Body Harmonics. In addition to studio teaching, he worked for 2.5 years as a Physiotherapist Assistant in two of Western Canada’s leading Physiotherapy Clinics specializing in Clinical Pilates.

Alongside his Pilates journey, Lucas took an interest in powerlifting and trained with Canada’s only Starting Strength coach, Craig Bearss. He eventually became a barbell coach himself and worked with a wide range of powerlifting clients both inside and outside the clinic.

Big increases in strength led to an interest in Classical Pilates. He studied privately with Matilda Christensen — one of Canada’s top teacher trainers who was the lead instructor for the Canadian chapter of The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado —until his departure to Germany.

Lucas does not believe Pilates is a religion and has been known to make people laugh so hard his classes are nearly impossible. When he’s not teaching, he can be found singing in choir, playing rugby with the Berlin Bruisers, or eating ice cream.
